International iSpark Pitching Competition 2025: Silver Awards

The iSpark International Pitching Competition (IIPC) is a global-scale entrepreneurship contest organised by Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), in collaboration with institutions across ASEAN and China.

IIPC provides a platform for university students and young innovators to pitch business ideas, prototypes, or technology-driven solutions to a panel of industry experts and potential investors — fostering innovation, collaboration, and cross-cultural exchange.

This year, the finale will be held on 26–28 November 2025 at Jiangxi Vocational College of Foreign Studies, Nanchang, China, bringing together creative minds from multiple countries for a week of inspiration, networking, and opportunities.

We are bursting with pride to celebrate the phenomenal achievement of the Sabah Branch I-Spark Team, who won the Silver Award at the prestigious I-Spark International Pitching Competition. The Team’s success on this international stage is a testament to the relentless hard work, brilliant innovation, and exceptional teamwork demonstrated by Chin Za Ye, a Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) in Software Systems Development student, and Liau Li Wen, Diploma in Accounting student, with guidance from their lecturers, Mdm. Sharon and Dr Christopher. To shine among the best and brightest from around the world is no small feat, and they have not only represented Sabah with distinction but have also brought immense honour to Malaysia. Our TAR UMT President, Prof. Dato’ Indera Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, was present to celebrate together with the team on stage.

This award is more than just a medal; it is a powerful validation of their idea's potential and skills as future leaders and problem-solvers. The journey from concept to a globally recognised pitch is remarkable, and their perseverance has truly paid off.

May this silver be the spark that ignites even greater journeys ahead; their accomplishments inspire us all and prove that with talent and determination, our local champions can conquer global arenas.

Sabah Hospitality Fiesta 2025: Nabs 3 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals in a few Apprentice Level Categories

Although we did not secure the overall title for the Apprentice Category this year, we remain confident that we will return even stronger and bolder in 2026.

ASEAN Cyber Race 2025 : 9th place among 15 finalists and Top 1 in Malaysia

Congratulations to our DSF students, Vincent and Shafina, for competing in the ASEAN Cyber Race 2025!

They achieved Top 1 in Malaysia during the September 2025 race, earning qualification for the ASEAN Cyber Race Final 2025 held in November 2025. In the final round, they secured 9th place among 15 finalists. The team was supervised by Mr. Daniel.

Additionally, Vincent has recently passed an external professional certification in Cybersecurity, marking another outstanding achievement.

GOLD ACHIEVEMENT in Malaysian Analytical Business Challenge (MABC2025)

Congratulations to the 4 degree students who joined and were awarded GOLD ACHIEVEMENT in the Malaysian Analytical Business Challenge (MABC2025) Competition on 31st October 2025. The event is about creative solutions skills and professionally in solving case study.

SABAH STATE FINALS ACS EDU TOUR SEASON 4: CHAMPION [Team TARUMT.D1X]

So proud to share that our students has won the Champion title in ACS Honor of Kings (HOK) Sabah State Finals held on 21-23 November 2025!

They will now represent Sabah as the only team selected from higher institutions and universities in the state to compete at the National Level in Kuala Lumpur, happening at Berjaya Times Square from 7–9 November 2025.

A Spirited Fight to the Finish: Team Garners 4th Place in Sukan Masiswa Zon Sabah

Though they didn't walk away with the gold, the Sabah Branch Masiswa Team still made their mark at the recent Sukan Masiswa Zon Sabah [29 Nov - 2 Dec 2023], securing a respectable 4th place finish in a field of fierce competitors. The team displayed unwavering determination and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, leaving a lasting impression on both judges and spectators.

Their journey to this achievement involved countless hours of dedicated training, pushing their limits, and refining their skills. Their commitment and teamwork were truly evident on the field, where they executed their plays with precision and passion. Despite facing some close and challenging matches, the team remained resilient, demonstrating unwavering spirit and sportsmanship.

While the podium finish may not have been the highest, Sabah Branch Team can hold their heads high knowing they gave their all. Their performance served as a testament to their hard work, talent, and unwavering support for each other. This experience will undoubtedly prove invaluable for their future endeavors, propelling them to even greater heights in the coming seasons.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Sabah Branch Masiswa Team for their outstanding performance at the Sukan Masiswa Zon Sabah. They have made their university and fellow TAR UMT community proud, demonstrating the true meaning of sportsmanship and perseverance. Best Idea Award at the Borneo Hackathon

🎉 Celebrating Innovation at Borneo Hackathon! 🚀 Congratulations to TAR UMT Sabah representatives, Bryan Lai (Diploma in Software Engineering), Chin Za Yee, and Elijah Nazareth Sipojol (Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Software Systems), for their outstanding achievement! 🏆 They clinched the prestigious Best Idea Award, winning a cash prize of RM1000 at the Borneo Hackathon, hosted by USCIENCE UMS from August 11–13, 2023.
